Description

Caerlaverock Castle is an important site set within extensive grounds, featuring a various buildings and structures, some of which are either unused or poorly utilised. While the site is a key tourism destination for Dumfries and Galloway and integral part of the wider Caerlaverock shared destination area, HES recognises the need to carry out a wide programme to scope opportunities for sustainable development and enhancement of the infrastructure and visitor offer at Caerlaverock Castle. As part of exploring this development, HES is seeking to commission a contractor to support the development and delivery of an audience focused Creative Learning Plan for Caerlaverock Castle. The plan should demonstrate meaningful opportunities to actively engage priority audiences including young people and those with additional support needs, alignment with local learning and creative programmes and wider priorities for the Dumfries and Galloway area including covid recovery. Lot 1: A key part of this commission is to develop a youth engagement programme inspired by Caerlaverock Castle working in partnership with both local youth work, employability and skills programmes and creative practitioners to provide meaningful opportunities for local young people aligned to local priorities such as youth employment and wellbeing. Inclusive opportunities should be incorporated to ensure equal access to participative programmes for young people from BAME, LGBTI and care experienced communities and those with disabilities or protected characteristics. The work should consider the current and longer-term impact of COVID-19 on the Historic Environment Skills Investment Plan and work with external partners to helIn addition a Creative Learning Plan approach should be developed that clearly sets out a plan of activity designed to develop, test and evaluate a range of programmes across key learning audiences including early years, schools, adult and community learning and groups with additional support needs. p shape any response or shifting perspective required.
