Description
The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for Acocks Green Primary School. Acocks Green Primary School was established as a standalone academy in 2013 and is a thriving, happy, multicultural primary school situated in the heart of Acocks Green village. The school is accommodated in an Edwardian building built in 1908. It has been refurbished and redecorated over the past few years. School has been very successful in winning bids: since 2014 we have managed to secure almost 1 000 000 GBP to replace the entire roof as well as install a brand new dining room and kitchen. In 2016 we spent nearly 200 000 GBP to totally upgrade and refurbish our Nursery, and in 2017/18 we are spending 400 000 GBP installing a new toilet block. Acocks Green Primary School agrees that school food standards provide an important nutritional safety net. We agree that all food and drink provided by or on behalf of the academy shall comply with the school food standards legislation. We are so lucky to have our brand new kitchen and every day the children are able to eat very nutritious, freshly made delicious food. We have the best 430 children and they deserve the best food. We have a dedicated cookery room, because we believe that children who make delicious food will ultimately eat well too in later life. All children have access to the cookery room and each week parents can cook with their children too. The guaranteed performance contract will commence on 1.8.2018 for an initial period of three years, with the opportunity to extend for a further period at the discretion of the school governing body. This is the first time the market has been tested for the catering service. The Client expects the successful Supplier to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients being prepared in the well-appointed kitchen on-site. The Client expects the successful Supplier to evidence, through their bid, how they shall support and complement their stated target. The Client requires year one menus to be fully compliant with the Food for Life Silver standard. The contract covers the scope for the provision of catering services, which currently includes: lunch, all hospitality and free issue requirements. There is a Breakfast Club that is managed directly by the Client. Meals shall be charged at 2,10 GBP on consumption for the first year of the contract, with hospitality and free issues at net cost, e.g. 12 staff meals per day. The Client intends to focus heavily on healthy, fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce and sees the catering service as an exciting opportunity to complement the overall pupil experience, through the regular introduction of new ingredients, themed and promotional events. The successful Supplier will be required to play their part in acting as a catalyst for improvement of the pupil experience. Please note that the successful Supplier will pay a proportion of the consultancy fee on award of this contract, which will be to the value of 2 500 GBP plus VAT. This fee will be invoiced after the 10 day standstill period. To ensure transparency, you will clearly show within your management fee a breakdown of this fee, over the length of the contract. The total full fee will be paid by the successful Supplier in full to Litmus by no later than Friday 25.5.2018. The successful Supplier will work closely with the Client to manage the provision of catering and the overall ‘meal experience’. The value of the current catering contract is circa 119K GBP per annum. Suppliers’ thoughts regarding how to support the Client’s catering improvement objectives within the term of the initial contract are welcome. The school is already ‘cashless’ with either ‘entitled’ parents, or a prepaid cash amount for each half-term’s meals, paid in advance via the online ‘ParentPay’ payment system. Parents currently pay for a minimum of one week’s meals at a time, enabling planning of catering volumes, with pupils selecting their preferred option at the point of service. The Client invites Supplier to consider offers of appropriate capital investment.
