Summary of the work We’re looking for an experienced Senior Interaction Designer who works with minimal support that can influence and mentor others. You will design and lead on public and internal services that are accessible to everyone. Integrating Digital Scotland Design Standards. You will lead on the direction of new patterns and standards. Specialist role Designer Expected Contract Length Contract will be let in 6 month increments, up to 23 months. Latest start date Monday 18 October 2021 Maximum Day Rate £600 plus VAT Who Speclialist Work With The existing team is comprised of contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be expected to be embedded into the Digital team as well as working with the other members of the business. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, alongside user researchers, service designers, business analysts, content designers, product owners, delivery managers and developers to deliver world-class, user-centred services that help the government transform the way it delivers services, so that they are more efficient, simpler, faster and easier to use. What Specialists Work On •use best practice/standards to design usable and access interactive services •work with user researchers to gain a deep understanding of our users •work with content/service designers to understand/map user journeys, visualise design problems •identify, propose and evaluate design solutions •work with multidisciplinary teams in an agile environment •demonstrate strong knowledge of interaction design best practice •work with technical roles to promote an outcome-led approach to designing services that considers technical feasibility •design and validate a range of static/dynamic prototypes to test/ communicate ideas •confidently design at low and high fidelity, including HTML and CSS •lead discussions with teams and stakeholders Skills & Experience • Demonstrable confidence in designing and prototyping at low and high fidelity, including HTML and CSS • Demonstrable experience of working in government/public sector and designing to Digital Scotland Service Standards/GDS standards • Demonstrable experience of interaction design in cross-functional agile teams • Demonstrable ability to work closely with others, including user researchers, service and content designers, front-end developers and product and delivery leads • Demonstrable experience of designing, accessible, responsive user interface Work Location Work remotely for now, when office opens, work will be at the below address and specialist may have to attend this office address as required. It is likely a large proportion of the week will be remote working. 1 Pacific Quay Glasgow G51 1DZ Working Arrangments • The specialist will be working remotely to start. Once the Scottish Government confirms the return to office based working, it is expected we will return to the office on a part time basis/as required. • The specialist will be expected to attend meetings using MS Teams or once office working resumes, face to face. • Make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, MS Teams, Miro, Confluence and Jira). • The specialist will be pro-active Security Clearance Must have BPSS clearance to begin work No. of Specialists to Evaluate 5 Cultural Fit Criteria Evidence ability to effectively collaborate & engage with DS to deliver this engagement. No, this is a new role that will work with the existing design team - Service Design, Content Design and User Research as well as with the wider digital team. 3. Please can you confirm when you anticipate the office re-opening and frequency of office visits?This will affect rate(s) and / candidate options significantly The office is currently open for essential staff. We anticipated the Digital Team will start to return from Late November. However this is on a as needed basis so will not be full time. Likely to be one day a week or less.All candidates should be prepared to come into the Pacific Quay, Glasgow office if and when required from Nov 2021. Rates cannot change once submitted via DOS.
