Manchester Day is a 1-day annual event that celebrates everything great about the city. It is a day for families, residents and visitors to get together and celebrate all things Mancunian that have made Manchester one of the world's most iconic cities. Usually taking place on the second or third Sunday of June it is Manchester's largest and most high profile community event attracting over 60 000 people and involving between 2 000 to 2 500 participants from between 70 — 90 Manchester charities, community groups and companies. Manchester Day is owned by Manchester City Council (MCC). Since the first Manchester Day in 2010 MCC have worked in partnership each year with a creative partner to deliver 7 successful events to date. MCC is inviting organisations to tender to be their creative partner in Manchester Day, responsible for the creative development and delivery of the event and the community engagement process required. MCC require a highly experienced outdoor arts events company to deliver against the following key requirements: The Creative Development of Manchester Day: — Developing overall theme and vision concepts. — The content development to complement theme and vision. — Engagement of professional artists/staff to support and guide participating groups. — Sourcing and purchase of all materials required to develop the creative content. — Engaging professional performers and artists where agreed with MCC to complement and supplement the creative output of participating groups. — Programming of all content. Management of the Community Engagement Process including: — Developing and implementing the call out to community groups. — Collating and scoping applications and communicating with successful and unsuccessful applicants throughout the whole process. — Contracting and managing suitable professional artists to work with participating groups. — Guiding and mentoring participating groups through the creative process. — Artist and participant management. Management of the delivery of all content including — Stage management of parade and stages/performance spaces. — Parade assembly/dispersal. — Delivery and management of install/derig of all creative content. — Participant/Artist liaison prior to and on the day of the event. — Management of creative volunteers. Reporting/Finance/H&S — Development and management of the creative and support budgets for the project on behalf of the MCC. — Maintenance of accurate financial records and financial reporting to MCC. — Provision of a post event report to MCC. — Provision of risk assessments and method statements as required. — As required close liaison/attendance of meetings with MCC including but not limited to creative development, participants, production, budget, marketing, sustainable event management, the multi-agency planning and safety advisory group process. — Participant and artist evaluation is undertaken by the creative partner. Miscellaneous — Embed sustainable event principles throughout the creative process and contribute to the setting and monitoring of KPIs in this regard. — Developing partnerships with key cultural institutions in the city. — Promotion of the event to specialist media and social media channels (arts, events etc.). — The development of funding applications and project delivery of any successful applications relating to Manchester Day (including but not restricted to ACE G4A) on behalf of MCC. (Fees for this work are from an external budget). This will include development of the Elevate project or similar.
