QU468 - Birmingham's Clean Air Zone Engagement Campaign - AWARD
Published
Description
The Council requires a supplier for the provision of an activity/ event/ attraction/ stunt to raise awareness of air pollution to coincide with national Clean Air Day which takes place on Thursday, 17 June 2021. The 2021 Clean Air Day will have additional significance in Birmingham in 2021 as it will be held less than three weeks after the Council launches its Clean Air Zone. To build on the momentum of the Clean Air Zone launch and capitalise on Clean Air Day, the Council is looking for a provider to host an activity/ event/ stunt/ attraction to increase understanding of air pollution by visualising the concept, the impact it has on health, the contributing factors and the steps that can be taken to reduce our contribution. Air pollution is invisible; unlike other health risks, such as smoking, the toxic pollutants can be seen and smelt. As such, is hard for people to quantify the extent of pollutants they inhale on a daily basis or the damage it does to our bodies on a daily basis, particularly for the most vulnerable members of society. We are looking for a provider who can bring air pollution to life and make it visible so people can 'see' the toxicity they are inhaling and the impact it is having on our health. With Covid-19 dominating the media, we need an activity/ attraction/ event/ stunt that will generate interest and help people to recognise air pollution as also being a significant risk to their health. The event/ attraction/ activity/ stunt will need to take place to coincide with Clean Air Day on 17 June 2021 but also be available for at least one week in total to allow people to engage around work and childcare. The event/ attraction/ activity/ stunt should be a feature within Birmingham city centre that provides a visualisation of air pollution. It should be accessible to also: o Generate widespread awareness and understanding of air pollution o Be an inclusive event/ attraction/activity that can reach hard-to-reach communities including those who do not speak English as a first language or do not have access to digital platforms o Generate substantial media interest o Adhere to any and all Covid-19 restrictions which are in place at the time The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
