DPS Home to School TransportThe Council are setting up a new Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). This will involve a selection process for taxi operators to join the DPS. Individual call off contracts will then be tendered using a mini competition process. These will be advertised on The Chest, to the list of operators on the DPS. Operators not on the DPS will not be able to apply. The DPS rounds will be re-opened to new entrants at regular periods. Initially these will be monthly and will move to quarterly once the DPS is established. The Transport Commissioning team arrange Home to School transport for mainstream children, special needs children( SEN), 8% of which are children who are wheelchair users and a further 120 children who are children in social care. Transport to school is arranged according to a child’s needs and this can be via our in-house fleet, or by bus, coach, minibus or taxi. The majority of the SEN contracts require a passenger assistant to be provided on the contract. There are currently around 100 mainstream contracts, 190 SEN contracts and 32 social care contracts. All of these contracts will require re-tender in the next couple of years. The DPS is divided in to 2 Lots : Lot One – 8 seats and under Lot Two – 9 seats and over Keywords: Transport
