Description

Summary of the work Accessibility audit for www.seafish.org against WCAG 2.1 AA standard as part of ongoing website maintenance and review. Expected Contract Length Audit needs to be complete by 31st March. Can roll in to first two weeks of April if necessary Latest start date Friday 19 March 2021 Why the Work is Being Done Accessibility audit is required for www.seafish.org to help us make the compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. Audit needs to be complete by 31st March so we can develop a plan for improvements and make our Accessibility Statement accurate by 7th May. Problem to Be Solved Seafish website was built in September 2021 to WCAG 2.1AA standards. The website build is compliant but we still have lots of work to do in making older content compliant. Following an audit by GDS, we have been asked to do our own accessibility audit to help us identify all of the content issues we need to fix. We are small organisation so do not have accessibility expertise in-house. Who Are the Users All Seafish website users Work Already Done Website was built in September 2021 to WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Functionality is good but content needs to be updated to make it compliant. Existing Team Working with Head of Communications and Web Engagement Officer at Seafish. Can you please clarify the timelines? The deadline to submit the initial tender response is midnight 15th March, and you intend to take 3 suppliers through to the next stage – where we can then submit proposal, pricing, etc.Given the contract commencement date is 19th March, are you intending to invite the 3 selected suppliers on the 16th March with responses back by the 18th March? Hi the applications should include pricing, experience and timelines to allow us to shortlist based on our criteria. We'll shortlist on Tuesday 16th March. If we need further information after that we'll request it from the shortlist of three and evaluate on Thursday 18th March. 2. Can you please advise what your budget for the accessibility audit is? Our maximum budget is £5,000 (including VAT). 3. What older content needs to be made compliant? We know that our video content and PDFs need to be made compliant. We also have some pages on the website that still need to go through our accessibility checklist - H2 headings etc. 4. How many templates need to be evaluated? We have limited the audit to 25 pages. These cover all of our templates and content types. 5. How many pages do you require auditing? Are we able to have access to the audit by GDS? We have limited the audit to 25 pages covering all of our templates and content types.Yes, we can share the audit from the GDS. It covers the serious issues only and there were about 7 issues identified. Some are with our website developer to look at and some are with us on content. 6. "Must run accessibility audit using Axe or Wave accessibility software”, would you consider audits run using different accessibility software? The GDS used Axe and our website developer used Wave when building the site. We would prefer to go with a software that is consistent with what has been identified already. 7. Our initial research indicates you have 1000+ pages. We expect that you do not want a detailed analysis of all 1000+ pages as this would not be achievable within the effort that the budget allows. Do you have a subset of the 1000+ pages that you are particularly interested in? If so, how many pages is this? Yes, we have limited the audit to 25 pages to cover all of our templates and content types. This list has been created already to ensure we cover the majority of the website. 8. Please could you provide an indication of the total number of unique page templates, components and content types (e.g. images, videos, audio files, PDF etc)? We'll limit the audit to 25 pages to cover all of our templates and content types. 9. Please could you confirm the total number of pages on the site? We have over 1,000 pages but the audit will be limited to 25 pages. 10. Has your website been built using a component/ pattern library? If so, would this set of components be in a location we could easily access? The website has been built using Umbraco. We can provide a list of the component types. 11. Will any more information /outputs be provided from the GDS accessibility assessment already completed? Yes we can share the GDS audit. 12. How has the website been built? Are any particular content management systems used to update pages/content ? The site is built on Umbraco 8.6.5 13. There are numerous automated testing tools available, is there a reason why you stipulate Axe and Wave? GDS used Axe for our audit and we had a recommendation to use the same software. Our web developers use Wave. We'd prefer to use the same software for consistency. 14. Can you clarify your response to question 1? The closing date for applications is 15 March, but that is just for our responses to the 4 shortlisting questions. The form does not allow us to submit proposals, pricing, timelines etc. You would need to add further shortlisting questions for each of those, but the 100-word limit for our answers is not suitable for a detailed proposal. This is our first time using digital marketplace. I wasn't aware there is a 100 word limit. The guidelines tell me to shortlist based on our essential and nice to have requirements so would assume you need to include these during application so we are able to shortlist. I'll need to check this.
