Who Speclialist Work With The Race Disparity Unit is a multi-disciplinary team covering policy, data and digital work streams. As well as policy officials, statisticians, analysts, and social researchers, the digital team includes developers, front-end designer, user researcher, delivery manager, content designers, product manager and service manager - this will change to reflect priorities and needs over time. What Specialists Work On Work in an agile, multi-disciplinary team, primarily with front-end designer, developer(s), product manager and service manager. Provide technical leadership, collaborate on roadmaps and priorities, and deliver high quality code in line with the project goals and delivery cycles. Overall responsibility for technical delivery and support of Ethnicity facts and figures on GOV.UK. Where the Work Takes Place 1 Horseguards Road, London SW1A 2HQ Early Market Engagement Working Arrangements Our team is based in Horse Guards. Occasional remote working is accepted, but will primarily be co-located onsite with the existing team. We work Mon-Fri with usual office hours. Travel to user research sessions at various London locations is expected. Work Location 1 Horseguards Road, London SW1A 2HQ Security Clearance CTC is required to work at 1 Horse Guards. Minimum of baseline clearance (BPSS) is required for the work itself. Additional T&Cs Skills & Experience Experience architecting and delivering user data driven web applications using python 3 (Flask) and javascript Have proven experience of working on agile projects as part of a multidisciplinary team, with regular user research, as outlined in the Government Service Design Manual and Digital Service Standard Proven skills in both front and backend aspects of web application development Proven experience of analysing and integrating multiple data sets in specialist domain sectors Proven team lead and mentoring experience Knowledge and experience of agile software delivery and DevOps, particularly: User story creation and management Source control (using Git), TDD/BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Documentation, Continuous Deployment Experience of multiple RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL technologies Ability to develop data models for web based applications Experienced in meeting the Government’s Digital Service Standards and understanding of how developers should follow best practice Operating services in an AWS Cloud-hosted environment Nice to Haves Experience in using Message Queues in a micro services architecture Experience of Containerised applications using Docker & Kubernetes Proven skills in securing web API’s, with appropriate authentication and authorisation routines No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria Experience of successful collaborative working as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team, sharing knowledge within the team Experience delivering in an open, collaborate, agile way according to the principles outlined in the Government Service Design Manual Experience of working with stakeholders and team members with low technical expertise Experience of successful agile delivery in non-agile environments and bridging the two worlds Demonstrate simplicity (e.g. do less but better, explaining complex issues in a clear, simple way, break down and prioritise complex issues) Displays cultural sensitivity and awareness Assessment Method Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 60% Cultural fit 20% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers Budget range £950 including travel and expenses
