Summary of the work We are looking for a motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to help us continue our journey of automation, reliability, and performance. A senior DevOps delivers and integrates software to form a complete DevOps toolchain. They are responsible for planning and designing large groups of stories. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 6 months initial with an optional 6 month extension - subject to review at 6 months. Latest start date Monday 4 November 2019 Who Speclialist Work With The existing team is comprised mostly of supplier, contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be expected to be embedded into current delivery teams and will be expected to lead a small team. What Specialists Work On • implement high-level technical requirements in a practical reliable, scalable, and performant way • provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues • ensure due technical consideration is given, make processes repeatable, scalable, and secure • have a deep technical knowledge and experience in DevOps environments, providing support to delivery teams and solving complex problems. • Work as a team with our organisation and other suppliers • Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions • Have a no-blame culture, encourage people to learn from mistakes • Take responsibility for their work • Share knowledge and experience with other team members Skills & Experience • 5+ years in a practical DevOps role • Can demonstrate practical experience with RedHat/ Amazon Linux, ECS, and EC2 • 5+ years’ experience coding with Python, Ansible. • Demonstrable experience of using VCS (Version Control System) in team environments. Eg git, Github, BitBucket. • Demonstrable Experience delivering CI/CD pipelines, ideally with Jenkins • Able to demonstrate mentoring colleagues in automation, security, and reliability, within a DevOps context • Demonstrable experience of Identifying manual processes suitable for automation • • In addition to above, please send CV to DS_PMO_Mailbox@disclosurescotland.gov.scot by xxxxxx. The specialist will be expected to attend all associated Agile ceremonies and make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, Skype, Google Docs, Confluence, Jira). The specialist will lead a blended team of resources and be expected to provide technical leadership, guidance and knowledge transfer where required. The specialist will adopt current, established ways of working and advise on improving them. The specialist will be pro-active in the delivery of working software Security Clearance SC level clearance is required for this position. Disclosure Scotland will sponsor the SC Clearance process where the specialist does not already have SC level clearance. In order for this role to be considered outside IR35, are you aware that you cannot mandate the specialist to work a set number of days on-site, as this would constitute as 'Direction and Control' under the regulations? The successful candidate shall work 37 hours per week and the where this shall be carried out shall be negotiated with the client as part of the onboarding process.Due to this it remain outside IR35. 17. How many interview stages are there and how long will it take to make a decision ahead of the 4/11/2019 start date? There will be an initial sift on the CV's and responses received.
