Summary of the work In order to prioritise our 2019/20 projects effectively we need a business analyst to gather and analyse requirements on multiple projects, and produce supporting documentation. It's also necessary to look at departmental processes to identify where efficiency savings could be made; to feed into the project prioritisation decision making. Specialist role Business analyst Expected Contract Length 2 Months Latest start date Sunday 21 January 2018 Who Speclialist Work With You will work with the Senior Management Team, Technical Leads, Network and Infrastructure Architects, Project and Portfolio Managers in order to gain the information required. You will report back directly to the Portfolio Manager. What Specialists Work On 1.Read and analyse the Capital Projects Summaries for 2019 2. Establish crossovers between projects both technically and in terms of resource. 3. Conduct Requirements Gathering for Key Projects 4.Establish realistic timeframes for delivery across projects. 5. Produce documentation to support project initiation. Skills & Experience • Have at least 3 years experience as a business analyst working within an Digital/IT environment. • Have excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills. • Have recent and relevant experience in evaluating risks and predicting potential problems • Have recent and relevant experience in requirements gathering for projects • Have worked in a diverse technical environment and have an awareness of Infrastructure, Network, Applications, Communications and Cloud Services • Understand how project lifecycles work • Have excellent written skills, and recent experience of writing technical documentation in plain english. • Completed a BCS (or equivalent) qualification in business analysis • Have a good understanding of ITIL processes • Operate in a diverse environment Nice to Haves • Operate at SFIA Level 5 in terms of Business Analysis • PRINCE2 Qualified • Experience of operating within the Public Sector • Experience of working in a science and research/academic environment. • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner Work Location The Business Analyst will work at the STFC offices at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Harwell near Didcot. Working Arrangments In order to meet with individuals to gather data data that will inform requirements and allow relevant documentation to be created it is envisioned that the majority of work will need to be carried out at the RAL site. However, the department is very agile in its approach to working arrangement, as long as primary objectives are achieved. Security Clearance The Business Analyst must have passed the Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (or equivalent) pre-employment screening(https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/365602/HMG_Baseline_Personnel_Security_Standard.pdf) to ascertain they are entitled to work in the UK. He/she must also have Basic Disclosure from Disclosure Scotland. If a candidate does not already have Disclosure Scotland, then they can get it prior to the start of the contract. It usually only takes a few days.
