Lot 1: The proposed works represents the second phase of street upgrade works being completed as part of the overall rejuvenation and enhancement programme for Ennis Town Centre. The first phase involved the regeneration of Parnell Street and the extensive network of Lanes and Bow-Ways. This phase, which is funded under the URDF, is scheduled to commence construction in 2022. The scope involves the regeneration of O’Connell Square, High Street, Old Barrack Street, Barrack Square and O’Connell Street. The design development for the project has been informed through a process of public consultation, stakeholder engagement and technical design studies. The proposed schemes will significantly improve accessibility for pedestrians through shared surface arrangements, increase footpath widths where possible and enhance the streetscape. Under the Planning and Developments Acts, Ennis Town Centre has designated a Recorded Monument (historic town, Mon. No. CL033-082) under the National Monuments Acts and an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA). The proposed works will be carried out in a phased manner to minimise disruption and maintain access for the residents, the public, businesses, and tourists. Significant traffic management planning will be required for the duration of the works. The construction zones (O'Connell Street, O'Connell Square, Bank Place, High Street, Cathedral Place, Barrack Street and Barrack) are located within the medieval core of Ennis Town Centre. The public realm works will enhance the Streets by resurfacing with natural stone materials, installation of new kerbing, raised tables at key points/junctions, replacement and/or upgrade of street lighting, replacement and/or upgrade of signage, signage restoration. The works will impact underground services/utilities and the works contract may extend to ensuring their long-term integrity. The works also involve re-instatement/upgrade of some services and working alongside third party utility providers
