Description

Maintenance dredging in Harwich and Felixstowe, disposal to sea and to sites in the harbour; small scale plough and agitation dredging; associated hydrographic survey. Dredging maintenance silt from harbour berths and approaches using plough / bed leveller and trailer suction hopper dredger(s) for disposal at sea. It is intended that a contract to remove approximately 1 200 000 m3 (in-hopper) will be issued in respect of each period of 6 months within the planned duration of the Framework (2018 — 2021). Lot 1 will also include the possibility of additional dredging as required of fine sand or sand and gravel, carried out in the approach channels and disposed to sea. Dredging maintenance silt from harbour berths and approaches using a small trailer suction hopper dredger for disposal at designated sites in Harwich Harbour as beneficial sediment placements. Work is to dredge approximately 100 000 m3 (in-hopper) of maintenance silt and dispose of in sediment placement sites in the Harbour. It is intended that the works will be carried out in 3 separate operations between the beginning of November and the end of April for each year of the planned duration of the Framework (2018 — 2021). Deployment of water injection or other approved equipment for dredging in shallow areas including marina channels, areas of restricted access and around and under pontoons. Work is expected to take approximately 20 tides (6 hour periods around high water) per year but could be extended as required. This work is currently undertaken once per year in the early spring.
