PQ0151 - Provision of Hackney Carriage Taxi Services
Published
Description
The Council spends c. £2m per annum on transport services, predominately regular route work conveying children to and from school and adults to and from day centres with a small amount (c£50 -100k pa) of ad-hoc taxi journeys for Council Officers / elected members. These services are provided under an existing contract (T23) that will expire in the Summer of 2018. A new strategy for delivery of the service from Sept 2018 is currently being developed. \n \n As an interim measure and to supplement supply under the existing T23 contract, Birmingham City Council is seeking applications, from suitable organisations, to provide hackney carriage taxi services throughout Birmingham. The orders placed under this interim contract will predominantly be for ad-hoc taxi requests for Council Officers / elected members and will include requests for pickups at peak times. A recent audit of pick-ups for one month and for one department showed that of 183 pick-ups 68 of these were peak time journeys, 63 jobs had a travelling distance of less than 3 miles with the remaining jobs (120) being for between 3 and 14 miles.\n \n Although this interim contract will predominantly cover ad-hoc tax requests, where existing contracted providers under the T23 contract cannot fulfil these, where there is a requirement for conveying children to and from school or adults to and from day centres and this cannot be fulfilled under the existing T23 contract these routes may also be ordered under this interim contract.\n \n Interested organisations must have a proven track record in the operation of similar operations and demonstrate that they are able to provide a consistently high quality service, which represents good value for money.\n \n The term of this contract will be 17 months and will commence on or around 1st April 2017 to 31st August 2018 subject to satisfactory performance\n \n If you are interested in applying please click the following link to access the Council's tender Portal: https://in-tendhost.co.uk/birminghamcc. You will need to register your organisation on In-tend and express an interest in this contract. All organisations expressing an interest will be forwarded a quotation template to complete and return.\n \n Quotations must be completed in full and returned no later than 12.00 (GMT) on Monday 27th February 2017.\n \n If you would like to discuss this opportunity please contact Andrea Webster (tel: 07827 367138 or email Andrea.webster@birmingham.gov.uk).\n \n Please quote contract reference PQ0151 on all correspondence
