Summary of the work The candidate is required to carry out testing work on the current platform Cloud Based Analytical System (private cloud) and help migrates testing to the new Azure Platform. Specialist role Quality assurance analyst Expected Contract Length 18 month than possibility of 6 months extension after review Latest start date Friday 29 October 2021 Maximum Day Rate Up to £570 Early Market Engagement None Who Speclialist Work With The Support team is embedded with the Analytical community and serves other external departments, but all users are Analysts (Statisticians, Economists, Operational Researchers and Social Researchers). What Specialists Work On 1. Develop & document functional test procedures for new production builds for the analytical platform 2. Develop & document non-functional test of the analytical system. 3. Conduct User Acceptance testing of enhancements and new functionality. 4. Providing assurance of migration of data and application to new platform. Skills & Experience • Experience of developing functional tests within window & Linux build environments- 12 points • Experience of developing non-functional for systems that are based on cloud (public and private) - 12 points • Experience of working with users to conduct user acceptance testing. - 12 points • Experience of working in cloud environment (both public and private) - 6 points • Experience of reporting results and recommendation to senior management - 6 points • Experience of working with on-premise and cloud analytical tools such as PowerBi, SAS, SPSS or NHM - 6 points • Experience and understanding of how security is applied to government data. – 6 points Nice to Haves • Experience of working with government analyst, such as statisticians or economists - 6 point • Experience of working with BAU/Support team to help them improve process - 6 points Work Location Westminster, London. Is there an incumbent currently in this role? Yes 2. What is the IR35 status Outside IR35 (Contracted out service) 3. Is SC clearance required before starting the job? No (however, this will be required after joining) 4. Does the maximum day rate include or exclude VAT? Excludes VAT 5. What test tools are currently being used? The tester will use scripts that relate to the infrastructure, such as R, Python, VBA and Powershell. Some of the tools include cucumber and gerkhin. 6. Who from your team will be scoring applications for this opportunity and what positions do they hold? There will be 3 on the panel – depending on availability. All will be permanent Civil Servant's from the Team. 7. What is the expectation for hybrid working? Is there a requirement to be onsite in London for a minimum 1 day per week or more, or is there flexibility? Yes the plan is to work in hybrid environment- there is an expectation to be in office at least one day a week. 8. We would envisage a testing service being a better fit to provide the broad scope needed for the project. Would it be possible to start with a test analyst and bring in expertise for the non-functional and data migration assurance parts as and when required? This procurement is for an individual. The testing, whether functional or non-functional is carried out by the incumbent. 9. Can the incumbent apply for this role? Yes 10. Can this role be filled by more than one person. For example a test analyst for the User Acceptance testing, a non-functional test specialist for the non-functional testing, and a data migration assurance specialist for the data migration assurance. It is unlikely that a test analyst will have the skills to do the performance (non-functional) testing or the data migration assurance. This procurement is for an individual. The testing, whether functional or non-functional is carried out by the incumbent. 11. What is the anticipated split of work between office and remote? Is there a minimum number of says the person would be expected to be on-site? The expectation from our department is to work 2 days at the Office, October forward. The department will adapt to the context of the environment. 12. Non-functional testing is mentioned, which non-functional aspects particularly would you look for the individual to work on e.g. Performance, OAT, accessibility? All areas 13. As a previous answer says “R, Python, VBA and Powershell. Some of the tools include cucumber and gerkhin” – are you looking more for an automation tester than a general functional tester with some non-functional skills? We are looking for an all-rounder.
