They will work collaboratively alongside existing teams to deliver high quality research into users’ needs, develop wireframes and prototypes to build and test. The end goal is to pass BEIS assessments based on DSS. Expected Contract Length 9 months Latest start date Monday 4 December 2017 Budget Range £348,000 excluding VAT Why the Work is Being Done Innovate UK is the UK’s innovation agency. The number of applications to and grants awarded by Innovate UK has grown significantly in the last few years. As such, Innovate UK are in the process of implementing new application and grants management services to replace legacy systems and paper based processes. To do so, there is a need to gather user research and design in line with the Digital Service Standards. A team is therefore needed to be able to provide the UX skills and resources to achieve services that adhere to these standards. Problem to Be Solved A team is required to conduct user research, provide lab testing and to create wireframes and prototypes on two projects. This in turn will feed to the developers and configurers of the two services to ensure that any outputs have been designed in line with what a user wants and expects to see. Once developed into the service this will need further user testing to ensure that it is still relevant and correct. There are two elements of this outcome: Alpha and Public Beta phases. The ACC is a continuation of the journey from the IFS. Design work is involved. Hello, Under "Problem to be solved", it is mentioned that design work is involved. Can I just confirm that this refers to UX design work, and not visual design? (and therefore that a visual design resource is not needed) Thank you in advance. Yes, that is a correct assumption it is UX design work. 2. This phase is stated as Public Beta. Can you clarify who has undertaken Discovery and Alpha phases. Has this been done internally or through a third party supplier? - Can you elaborate on how the budget for the project has been derived - Can you provide any detail on the roles required and the number of people against each of those roles. With limited visibility of the grants management piece, it is hard for us to make an accurate estimation These stages have been covered by Nomensa and internal resource. The budget was derived by the expected resource on the project for the amount of time needed. This would be split across the project in public beta (IFS) and and the project in alpha (ACC). These roles need to be able to undertake user research and prototyping. Bidders are to propose the team structure and roles required. 3. We would prefer to work remotely where possible, instead of 3 days on-site. Would this be considered? We require a minimum of 3 days on site. 4. How many developers teams will be dedicated to the Beta phase? There are 3 teams within the project currently in beta (IFS) and 1 team within the alpha project (ACC). 5. Are there multiple scrum teams envisaged within each of the two teams suggested in the proposal? If so, how many scrum teams are currently planned? There are currently 3 teams within the project currently in beta (IFS) and 1 team within the alpha project (ACC). Bidders are to propose the team structure. 6. Are developers based on site? If not, where are they based? Are there timezone dependencies? Developers tend to be onsite 3 days a week. All suppliers work to the current Timezone. 7. Do you know who your users are / have personas that are embedded in the organisation and that you regulalrly refer to? Users have been identified and personas created which are regularly referred to within the projects. 8. What research will be made available (from the Discovery phase or otherwise) to the awarded supplier at (or ideally prior to) the project start date? All research currently completed will be shared with shortlisted suppliers 9. Who will the supplier report to? Both in terms of primary point of contact and sign-off on brief through to completed work? The supplier will report to the project manager on each project who have overall responsibility for delivery. 10. Similarly, what kinds of senior stakeholders (e.g. role types, seniority levels, departments) will the supplier be dealing with? The senior stakeholders involved will be Director of Operations, Director of IT and various Heads of Functions. They may also be required to deal with external stakeholders such as BEIS or GDS during assessment phases. 11. How can our previous submission be retrieved or sent back to us, or treated as a valid original submission? It will not be feasible for us to start again from scratch - please, please apply some common sense here and do not expect suppliers to double the effort required to make a submission. As the previous advertisement was cancelled the bid submissions are not available to us. The Digital Marketplace team have also advised that the portal does not have the functionality to provide this information at present.
