Dear Tenderer, The contract is expected to commence at the 21st January 2022 to be completed by 31st March 2022 for the provision of a Management Plan for Craig y Nos Country Park. The final output, ‘the Management Plan’, will be in line with the objectives detailed in the National Park Management Plan ’21. It should, through plans and a supporting narrative, provide a clear and co-ordinated blueprint for the future development and management of the park. Further details are set out in the Brief for Invitation to Tender: Site Management Plan for Craig y Nos Country Park set out in the Appendix. Background For further information about the National Park management plan, please see our website: https://www.beacons-npa.gov.uk/the-authority/who-we-are/npmp/management-plan-review/ The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (Authority) wishes to commission a Management Plan for Craig y Nos Country Park. The final output, ‘the Management Plan’, will be in line with the objectives detailed in the National Park Management Plan ’21. It should, through plans and a supporting narrative, provide a clear and co-ordinated blueprint for the future development and management of the park. The collective Management Plan should use the following objectives as a foundation for all proposals. 1. The Country Park is managed to maximise its beauty, historic significance, and biodiversity, and to provide opportunity for physical & mental wellbeing for all. 2. The Park is as financially sustainable as possible; generating income which can be reinvested in the park, whilst fostering the wellbeing of the natural & historic environments of which it comprises. 3. Local communities and visitors from further afield take maximum pleasure and enjoyment from an improved visitor experience, providing opportunities for connection between people and place and maximising opportunities for engagement for all. 4. The Country Park is a hub for visitors from all spheres of society. It is the place where the work of the Brecon Beacons National Park can be showcased at the highest standard. 5. Craig y Nos Country Park serves as the hub of the Fforest Fawr Geopark and provides excellent educational and volunteering opportunities. 6. The wider environment & ecosystems within the Country Park are at the forefront of all decision making. 7. Sustainable transport / access options are maximised. 8. Green energy and decarbonisation are maximised, and zero carbon is aimed for. Increasing visitor numbers per-se is not a required outcome for this work. Although an increase in visitor numbers is generally expected. As well as an over-arching set of plans and supporting narrative, the management plan should also include an evaluation of the current condition of the park’s features and readily comparable options appraisals for the future location of new components. The Masterplan will be used as a basis for bidding for and implementing individual projects identified
