TELEMETRY OUTSTATIONS CONTRACT 2022-27

Published

Description

The Environment Agency (EA) and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) operate a large number of monitoring sites throughout England and Wales. The EA operate six telemetry systems based on old regional boundaries. The management of these systems is via a national service consisting of three telemetry hubs each supporting two systems. The management and maintenance of field equipment is carried out in fourteen area based teams. The EA is in the process of adopting the use of DNP3, WITs DNP3 protocols and IP packet switched data communications to field telemetry outstations. NRW operate in a similar manner to the EA, and wish to adapt the use of IP packet switched communication in the future. Lot 1a: Lot 1 – This lot is designed to meet the EA and NRW requirements for a device with very low battery consumption, low I/O, single communications and simple alarm functionality. Lot 1 is then subdivided into lots 1a and 1b: Lot 1a) covers Point Green RTU Lot 1b: Lot 1 – This lot is designed to meet the EA and NRW requirements for a device with very low battery consumption, low I/O, single communications and simple alarm functionality. Lot 1 is then subdivided into lots 1a and 1b: Lot1b) covers Point Orange RTU Lot 2: Lot 2 – This lot is designed to meet the EA and NRW requirement for a device with the functionality to operate at the majority of level, flow and rainfall sites. Lot 3: Lot 3 – This lot is designed to meet the NRW requirement for a device with the functionality to operate at the majority of level, flow and rainfall sites requiring increased communication resilience with multiple incremental shaft encoder input and EA requirement for multiple simultaneous sensor protocol communication. Lot 4: Lot 4 – This lot is designed to meet the EA requirement for a device with the functionality to operate at our more complex sites requiring increased communication resilience and high I/0. Typically, sensors are sampled every few seconds.
